Audi’s constant updating of its model range continues with the arrival of a new A4. The car has been given a fresh face and a general makeover to keep it competitive with some tough rivals, notably the widely praised new BMW 3-Series. Exterior changes to the A4 have modified its styling to bring it closer into line with the latest family face for the Audi range. Re-shaped headlights, a new front bumper, re-designed grille and stronger bonnet lines have beefed up the A4’s road presence.
This is the latest generation in a line of Audi A4 models dating back to 1994, and over the year the car has been gradually evolving and increasing in size. External changes to this latest model are relatively subtle, with more of a transformation under the skin. Audi has nudged the car a bit more upmarket. It has refreshed the cabin, at the same time upgrading the driving dynamics, giving the steering a crisper feel and making the ride more pliant. The engines have undergone revisions to boost power at the same time as improving emissions. The lowest CO2 output in the range is now 112 g/km, down from 119 g/km in the outgoing A4 range.
Pricing for the range starts from £23,630 for a petrol-engined 1.8 TFSI SE saloon, and rises to £37,160 for a top spec diesel-engined, four-wheel-drive 3.0 TDI Quattro S Line S tronic saloon.
